3 Easy Default Hairstyles for Natural Hair

3 Easy Default Hairstyles for Natural Hair

So you’ve taken the plunge and ”gone natural”, you love the way your facial features show more, and your hair feels so healthy, but there’s one small problem, besides an afro, you really don’t know how else to style your hair. Here are 3 easy hairstyles that you can carry for up to a week.

The twist-out

This easy hairstyle creates lovely curls and spirals in your hair so that it looks good any way you choose to rock it. It’s done by twisting your hair and then taking down the twists after a while leaving your strands looking lovely. This tutorial video by BlakIzBeautyful shows how it’s done.

Tools you’ll need

  • Afro Comb
  • Moisturizer
  • Styler

The Pineapple

This quick style has saved me more times than I can count. It takes about 2 minutes to do, and it looks good on an old twist-out, or just freshly combed hair. The beauty of this style is that you can rock it at almost any length, and it looks great for any occasion be it work or play. All you need is an elastic band, and you’re set. See how SisiYemmie does hers here.

The Wash and Go

This hairstyle gives a lot of ladies nightmares, cos they think their curls won’t ‘pop’. Well, think again, because I do this style a lot, and I get better results each time. It’s done on wet hair, so you can either wash your hair, or just spray water on it first. The only thing I don’t like about it is that your hair will stay damp for about 3-6 hours, but it’s really not so bad. Some people use all the product in the world for theirs, but I like to follow MissKenK who uses just a conditioner and gel on freshly conditioned hair. Please note that your hair may not come out as exactly as hers, as this depends entirely on your Natural Curl Pattern. Enjoy.

So there you go, 3 easy default hairstyles that can last all week with little to no maintenance. I’d love to hair your experiences with these styles. Take care.
